Hello,
My username is Insula Dulcamara, and fileden won't let me view or upload any files since 3 days ago. None of the files I have hosted show up on my site, only the errors, or won't open at all.
Is it normal ?

I have the same problem here. Don't know why.
No it's not normal.

When I wanna look up my files it tells me "Unable to access user folder for ###. This is a temporary error due to maintenance work, if this problem persists, please contact us."

And when I wanna open the upload page it's written "Unable to access user folder for ###. This could be due to the userfiles folder not being CHMODed correctly."

I hope my files are not destroyed...

Oh, i just see on the forum : "The chmod error is a server related problem, and is normally resolved fairly quickly."

The first problem of CHMOD is dated of June 2006
& now the date is October 2009 !!!!
3 years and the problem is not resolved...

M'enfin...I will just wait a little.

All efforts are being made to resolve this issue as soon as possible, Fileden apologise to all users who are experiencing this and similar issues.

I have the same problem, with the same messages.

I created another account to upload files and my surprise is that it does not recognize any of the files and errors when upload those files.

What is going on with Fileden?

My accounts are>> Celtobriga and Infinda

Creating another account will not help as the issue is with the server and newer accounts.

How much longer is this problem gonna take? I'm about ready to re-upload all my files at another hosting site if this isn't corrected soon!

I have the same problem with everyone. On top of this another problem accured, that is my flv downloader keep on a asking me to download 5 items from my fileden folder. Whenever i try to exit downloading, it keeps on repeating asking me to download. It never end until I quit the flv downloader. It is very embarassing. :o

So if our files have been lost beyond recovery, what are our options?

Apparently we can't create a new account because the same problem will affect it, correct? (See post # 9 of this thread.)

And we can't delete our old account and re-activate it, and FileDen has basically given up on those of us so affected.

So - what - find another provider? Is that what we're being told? Sorry, but I'm not seeing any solutions here. Am I missing something?

Wew, I just read that full notice.. and if I get it correctly I should be unaffected (I signed up in January of 2007).

That's a lot of lost files though.. two months of 2009 and ...all of 2006, if I read it right.

So.. what.. a few weeks and you guys are back up?..

I have been posting with fileden for a long time. since /2006/9/25/ and I have had a premium account since April 22, 2008. My login is ATPTheDoctor.
It seems that all of my files are inaccessible and I can't access my account in any way other than to look at my profile. I was about to update my credit card information when I noticed this trouble 3 days ago. I initially thought that may be the problem. But after reading the notice it seems to be FAR worse.
I find a monthly discount and upgrade of service to be of little use to me when I have to create 3 years of links over again. That is hundreds of files. Many weeks of work on my part.

I want to know the extent of the loss.
The only users that should be permanently affected by this issue are those of whom signed up in July 2009, January 2009 and 2006. Everyone else's data is perfectly safe and secure.
Since I cannot access any of my files and I do not fall into this area except for overlapping every single one of the above events, I assume that the above description is an inadequate representation of the loss of data. So despite what was a rather rude statement at the top to a paying customer I will ask publicly how much of my data is gone? Is it completely lost or are there holes in the data. Is there any way I can upload data and reestablish the links that i have created in the past? When will the recovery of data be complete? When will I be able to update and post on my account?

This could be due to a number of issues all of which are not your fault, but most likely with the server, and the problems it's recently been having. Please keep reading the new posts to see when issues are resolved, I will report them as I receive updated news.

Sorry there still seems to be major issues with the servers, so unpredictable behaviour can be expected. there is as yet no estimated date when the work will be complete, I will attempt to keep users informed.

It would appear that there are a lot of people with this same issue. I wish something could be done about it. I have been on Fileden for at least 2 years and all of the sudden my mp3 player quit working. Now we all have this mess to deal with.:mad:

I am getting the CHMODed problem and the error message said it was due to maint. It has been two weeks. I haven't been able to access any of my files.

Do you know your registration date? post it here with your username, if your account is not within the affected date-sets it's likely you are receiving this message:

It may just be a case of resetting the maintenance switch.

well seems like the major part of members being free or paying are affected.


so when the harm already seems to be done: why dont start the FD fresh: so format all those things and start from scratch


reparing is most of the times a temp way to be able to perform again, but in the future these things will most likely repaet itself.



see it like a pc being repaired over and over again: time to buy a brand new pc and go on.
same thing with peoples relations: burn ur bridges and start ovr fresh with a new partner.

cuase going to marriage consultance only costs you alot in the end: and usually it aint wordt: what is once broken, will likely break again.


get new servers and restart ur service thats the only thing i can recommend for now.


when windows installaition is crapped, u can reinstall and try to get it to work: in the end you end op with a clean fresh windows install.


hope i have given enuff examples.

nope it is not always true mine = a goner and i still keep getting the same:

so that doesnt count for all problems, and as someone already said: you cant register new accounts.

so we just wait till its 2010 and the 2006/2009 bug is gone?

I'm not within the affected dates, registered January 15, 2007 and I also know my files are still there (I'm able to access ONE of the mp3s on the server somehow).

You said to post if you're getting that error, so I post.

question:


i just tried to login my newly created account seagal64: it still shows the chmod story


BUT.... the funny part comes now: my old account seagal from 2006/8
shows up with the default settings but indeed with no files


is it save to start using that old account again(and upload files) and let the newly created account expire?

or should i wait anothr month or 3 before i do anything?

well i guess i start trying to upload some files and just see what will happen.


since the new account seagal64 wont work , can you delet it for me? or should i just let it expire ?

Yes the l'd account should be ok to use, i've tested mine and all seems to function, even with a few improvements too.

I am having similar troubles with my folder. I have not been able to access my folder as of recently, and for some reason, I cannot upload any files. Both the upload and the file screens instead show up with this message:

"System Message






Unable to access user folder for TwilightDuo. This could be due to the userfiles folder not being CHMODed correctly."

If I can get some help with this issue it would be appreciated.

I am getting the CHMOD error and have been for at least a couple of months. Yes, this is also my account name.

You said many many times previously, that accounts started in 2006, and a few months worth started in 2009 were destroyed, however my account was started in mid to late 2007 so when can I expect my files to be moved too? I have well over 200 files uploaded here...

Your registration date specifically was January 28th, 2007. I am looking into the specifics of your account. Please feel free to PM me.

Is this true of me also? I just logged into my account TheDonald and it no longer shows the chmod stuff or any error message, but all my things do indeed appear to be missing :D.

I'm left to assume this means my files are also being restored.. but just asking, to be sure.

My account was not registered during either time.

Weee ^_^ stuff works again.

.__. and I lied.. I didn't lose my patience.. I'm abnormally tolerent of adverse circumstances.

You should chain Puniksem up until this is over, though xD. The canswers are misleading and needlessly disconcerting. (I kid about the former, but the later is quite true. It is a little disconcerting when your responses are not coordinated and in agreement as to the situation.

Surely you can agree..)
