For everyone that was experiencing the 'folder cannot be found' error, this error should now be fixed and we thank you for your patience. There was a server side error that was causing the uploader to not function as intended.

All of the music on our website isn't working and all of our stored photos are broken or not being displayed. Is File Den down? :mad:

I'm still having problems over 36 hour since first reported. Is there any chance of anyone from FileDen
responding to these problems with an update and an expected time for a fix.
It's beginning to move from mildly annoying to exceptionally irritating.

Still no fix to this problem nearly three days since I first had problems. At what point do fileden consider providing refunds. I paid for the service so that I could post tracks on my blog which I'm not able to do and this is affecting the number of visitors. The most annoying and frustrating thing is that no-one seems to be doing anything to fix the problem. Apart from one comment on the forum that admin will contact me, since then nothing. The time is close when I'll be taking my business and money elsewhere.

My username is Grandam99, and I too, still have problems. It won't let me view or upload any files. It's been doing this since 2 nights ago, and still no luck. None of the files I have hosted show up on my site, only the errors, or won't open at all. I am a paying Premium member, and I think I should be getting the services that I am promised to get with that payed subscription, instead, Fileden has been on a rollercoaster of problems of late. I had the similar problem not too long ago, and a while back too, now, it won't even let me access anything. I host bunch of swf files and I cannot afford to lose them all, even for temporary. I hope they fix it A.S.A.P, for I do not want to leave Fileden, for I have not found any host that is as good as Fileden in terms of ease of use and flexibility. These problems will just eat away my peace of mind of my files being hosted.

PLEASE, get right on it and fix this problem. This really sux.

All efforts are being made to resolve this issue as soon as possible, Fileden apologise to all users who are experiencing this and similar issues.

@ beasly: I usually bypass that ..unless I reaaally feel like responding :D. Amazing how much time a few back-arrow+ refresh button maneuvers will save.

Anyway.. I've only been with fileden since 2007.. haven't really noticed any huge problems until now.

Apparently this has happened once before and it turned out fine, so I'm not worried.. even though I have some rare files of mine stored here.

When exactly will they be fixing the problem, this time, so I can access them [or so all my hotlinks refs will work] again? I got a bunch of mangled websites to stare helplessly at, now...

Thank you for your understanding I'm sure everything should be put right soon enough, I would like to remind you though that it's important to always keep backups of important files, especially files that are stored at on-line servers, I have 7.8gb of files stored on my diamond account.

There are many to choose from, for example just search Google for "free online storage"
But many of them do not allow direct linking of files and do not offer as wider range of file types. nor does one get as much bandwidth allowance as FileDen offers free users. Please be patient, these issues will be resolved as soon as possible.

I truly enjoy using Fileden and would really like to stay here. I've been here for a couple of years now, and I've truly loved the service. However, I wonder with this incident, as well as the previous hacker that invaded this site, will it remain a quality site to remain a member? Are my files safe?

The file/folder structure of user accounts should remain completely unaffected by the server move, the file browser system is locked purely as a precautionary measure until completion.

So if some of our folders are still not accessible unlike the ones that got their accounts back, our files are not lost? I see some people with the accounts back, but they have no files.

I registered Fileden in 2006/11/24 so my files are all gone right???? Oh Noooooooooooo hopefully not because I have no backup files in my PC and I've stored everything in my folder. Can you recover my files please?
I trusted your site because of reliability and convenience that reasons makes me happy and love to stay here. Until 2 weeks ago I accessed my account as usual but it's not the same anymore. I've got this message....

And I wrote emails to you for several times but there's no response and cannot access this forum too. I temporarily shut down my site because I don't want people to see that everything destroy T^T. and like u said yourself, it wont be easy to find a good decent free file host (photobucket has decreased his bandwidt and storage by 50% for free members so photobucket is not any of my favo free hosts anymore)

furthermore they offer their free service settings as there cheapest hostpackage can u believe that?
(what a way to make profit)

they used to give 1 GB storage and 25 GB bandwidth: they move that to 500MB storage and 10 GB bandwidth, which still is enough but its just a big shame that

now they offer that former FREE package as a paid package, i dont think thats the way to treat customers.

they should have increased the paid options instead of cheapily decreasing the FREE and offter that as paid

Then what about all the paying accounts for the premium fileden? The premium account links don't even say when the files were created/uploaded? just premium.fileden.com along that line. Are mine are the goners as well?

SOOOOOME service you have for your paying members. >:( I expected a lot more than that.

I certainly don't want to leave Fileden but you guys seems to just want to kick out all of us and close down. To me, it seems like you are making a cause on purpose to close down your service completely. To make your paying members leave on their own, until you have no-one remaining so you can shut down easily. Kind of like what Filelodge did a while back.

My old account is RedSnapper149. Can't access anything for almost a week. Realize that my 85 files are lost. So instead of waiting, I thought I'd start all over. So I set up for another account. However, when I try to access it, it tells me that I must activate. Filled in another email address and nothing is happening. I'm using a new name for the account and another email address. Why isn't it working? Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Or can anyone please tell me where another site is that will do what Fileden does! lol. So tired of reading this board and having no recovery with my files.... I mean they are lost! Gone! Dead! Finito!!! But I need to get started again, rather than cry the blues here!

Anyone have another site that is reliable?

Did you check your junk mail box, fileden posts tend to get miss sent to many mail servers.

To the person above me who were wonderring if there are other service that is reliable, I DID find one that is so far has been flawless, but I won't post the link here since the guys at Fileden may do something on them in retaliation. No, I am not going to leave Fileden just yet. Will wait and see what happens for a little bit. I am RE-Uploading the files I could find to there, and looking for ANOTHER service as a backup, but is unsuccessful.

So, please, at least TRY to fix the problems first rather than charging for the service, taking the money for nothing (Which you just did to me last night, charging me for the empty service) and just ignoring what your valuable members are entitled to. At least give us the SIGN that you are actually TRYING to fix it, rather than just toss out an irresponsible message that there's nothing you can do and hogging our hard earned dollar. Taking the free money without doing anything, treating your paying members as a pawn.

Any payments will likely be refunded once administration have cleared all back-logged messages.

Perhaps if you read some of the more recent posts on this forum you would have noticed that it's more than just 'closed of maintenance' issues that has resulted in a number of accounts becoming corrupted. If your account was regsitered in 2006, Jan 2009 or July 2009, then your acount may be one affected by this issue.

Fileden will contact all affected users, in due course, premium account holders will receive notification and possible compensation for loss of service.

I've read the forums and technical report. My question was simple... E.T.A.???????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????

i.e another week, 2 weeks, a month, a year? I'm asking for a ballpark estimation as to when my gold membership files (account created in 2007) will be back online?????????? I'm at 14 days and counting

The answer I have is NO I do not have an answer. Nor has admin been able to specify a time-line to me last time we talked, If I had a more accurate answer, don't you think I'd have given it to you by now...

I am also one of the affected 2006 Diamond premium account holders, I am also 100% sure ALL my 5.5Gb of files are not recoverable. However I did make recent and frequent backups of my files using my Premium FTP service. So my loss may not be as great as of those who didn't make backups.

There's still a problem with the uploader or the file browser (post upload). Everything I tried to upload yesterday and today has looked to have uploaded succesfully, but when I view the files in the FD browser, they show to be 0 bites. None of the files are accesible at all.

Also, I noted the bandwidth and storage space meter is not working. Could this be related?

My free space is over 50MB, and my bandwidth meter shows 0 of 5G.

Well I haven't logged in in a couple of weeks, until last night. And then I find this problem out. This looks like it has been going on for almost a month? I guess this will make transferring to another server easier for Fileden, since they'll have lost most of their users by the time it's all fixed. No estimation for when this issue will be resolved?

I mean besides when I finally decide to use a new hosting site...

ok, like everyone else knows, it seems to be pretty much over here and all my files are gone. the question I have is this,...what other file hosting/storage site can be used that's comparable to Fileden, as far as us using the URL for flash media players to be used on other sites? that's my main problem right now. please reply if you have any info.

I've never known any other site to offer the range of facilities and services as fileden. If you're looking for online storage, try searching for 'free online storage'

I have 2 accounts that I've been trying for months to log into, emailed about it and never received a response. I really liked using FileDen until this started happening. Why weren't I notified that there were problems? I can't even log in, no matter how many times I've tried, it keeps sending me to a marketing page with offers I'm not interested in, then after clicking continue it tells me I haven't logged in...repetively frustrating. I've received an expiry account email but if I can't log in...what happens then??? :confused: No crying smiley so I'll just roll eyes :rolleyes:

Fileden is very much online except for the unfortunate few that had accounts affected when the server crashed.

Users who are still receiving:

Unable to access user folder for {username}. This is a temporary error due to maintenance work, if this problem persists, please contact us.

This is an automatic switch generated as affected accounts are being scanned and worked on by an automated script.

If you consider that there are nearly three million users registered with FileDen, and only a small number of those accounts are actually affected, the fact that users are reporting it here makes it look like lots of accounts have issues. when this is actually not the case.

As to a completion date for the aforementioned work, it can't be answered by me at this time as the automated scripts are still restructuring affected accounts. As soon as I do have an answer, I will announce it on the forum.

You mentioned that your account was registered on Jan 24 2007, this to my knowledge is not in the affected account dates (2006, Jan 09 or July 09), and if you are receiving the above maintenance message, it's likely that your account is being checked, and service should return to normal after.

We will continue to wait. It's more sensible to stay with FileDEN than to move, if access will eventually be restored. Like many, we have access to Profile etc., and can log in without problems, but have no access to stored files or the like.

your files were possibly corrupted by the hardware failure and may be unrecoverable. However I was informed that the server technical team are now working to recover as many accounts as possible that were affected.

So does this mean there's a chance of getting the files back? I hope yes. My account name is darkdrium and I will now make backups incase the files get recovered. My account too has no files in it now.

OK; so I can finally access my files folder, but ALL of my files are missing from the main folder (insert ferocious cussing and assorted blasphemies). There is one album alive, but the images in it are not visible, just those boxes with the dreaded red X'es.

I have no idea since when I've been registered, but 2006 is a strong probability. My username for Fileden is _OriginalSin_

I'm a highly polemical and ABSOLUTELY pissed off human being right now, so I believe I'll leave before I speak my mind. In the meantime if someone could be so kind as to recover my files, I'd be less pissed off and only somewhat appreciative, considering this never should have happened at all - the "sh** happens" way out doesn't and can't work for a file storage website, regardless of whether it's paid for or not.

I do sincerely thank Puniksem - who is obviously caught between a rock and a hard place - for the help he or she is trying to give to a huge quantity of very angry people. Thanks for the help, Puniksem!

Thank you for your kind words, yes some people don't appreciate I Have done this moderation voluntarily for three years now, and have had my fair share of abuse from disgruntled users, foot stomping babies to bombardment of my website and email inbox by one jerk. I take all the threats with a pinch of salt knowing that some people are just obnoxious spoilt brats, that whine and moan even when what they're getting is free. How many times have you heard that you'd be a fool not to make backups of anything valuable, I feel we have all learned a most valuable lesson.

Thank you for your kind words, yes some people don't appreciate I Have done this moderation voluntarily for three years now, and have had my fair share of abuse from disgruntled users, foot stomping babies to bombardment of my website and email inbox by one jerk. I take all the threats with a pinch of salt knowing that some people are just obnoxious spoilt brats, that whine and moan even when what they're getting is free. How many times have you heard that you'd be a fool not to make backups of anything valuable, I feel we have all learned a most valuable lesson.

As for free swf/file hosts, i have tried many many file hosts, and there are only 2 other file/swf hosts(iimho) that also have free and premium memberships, that are any good besides filedens.


So i hope FD has succeeded in getting his accounts back, thumbs up for FD:)

Thank you for your comments, feeling appreciated makes my 3 years here as a voluntary moderator well worth the considerable time I have given to this site,

I too was sadly affected by the issues and as a result have to reconstruct my FileDen account from scratch. I don't relish the task but was fortunate enough to have made frequent FTP backups of my file-sets.

I understand that my files themselves are corrupted beyond recovery (I registered 8/1/2006, account number 150488, according to my URLs, and am a free user; all my files are completely gone, according to my file listing page), but is the structure (filenames, folders) still recoverable? It would make it a lot easier to replace the many files I have in my account; I'm pretty sure I have all of the files I uploaded still on my hard drive. (I usually use this account for various links or images in online message boards, schoolwork, etc.) If it helps, I had all my files in one folder anyway.

I'm a new member; I registered right when ya'll were having the most trouble with the servers. I didn't know that when I registered, so I just decided to hang out and wait.

It says that everything's back online, but I still can't upload anything/access my folder because of a CHMODed error.

Should I delete my existing account and start a new one?
Or can ya'll fix it for me?

As we do not store backups it is a matter of attempting data recovery on failed, dead equipment. The particular storage array responsible for this data suffered massive corruption.

Is the admin even care about their E-mails? I have E-mailed them twice to cancel my premium membership with empty service(Due to their careless file lose) last month, and yet they NEVER got back to me, and they charged me AGAIN this month. This is ridiculous. I want my refund, and I want it NOW, some 4 months worth that is almost $40 of my hard earned money. I want out, and I want FULL Refund of all the empty service that I didn't get that I am entitled to for my paid subscription. I just cannot take chances with this unstable service, so I decided not to bother re-register.

We have no recollection of any emails from you. Where did you send them to? The billing@fileden.com address is unmanned.

It's easy to cancel your subscription, unfortunately we cannot do it for you. You have to do it through the Paypal website, by logging into your Paypal account and cancelling your recurring subscription with us.

Hi,

I did find an issue with your account that would have prevented files from being served from one of the servers in the web cluster, that has been repaired and that error message will go away now. This would only happen if you connected to one of the servers, thus why you would see it come and go.

Firstly your account was a free account which was inactive for more than 30 days.
As a result your files were removed from the Fileden server. Unfortunately those files are not recoverable. The image of the shirt was a test image placed in the folder and was merely not removed by the technicians after.

We apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused, but in future as a free account you must abide by our inactivity policy.

FILEDEN FREE ACCOUNTS IMPORTANT!
ALL FREE ACCOUNT MEMBERS ON FILEDEN PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU ARE REQUIRED TO SIGN INTO YOUR ACCOUNT AT LEAST ONCE IN EVERY THIRTY (30) DAYS TO PREVENT AN AUTOMATED FILE DELETION. I was not aware of the 30 day inactivity until recently when trying to resolve the original problem, and I read about it in FAQ. I feared that would be the case and was prepared to re-upload all my songs once I was sure the original error message thing was resolve. For the record tho, it states that I will be notified by email and warned prior to my files being deleted. I never received any such warnings.

Inactive for more than 30 days, then an automatic process sends the warnings. some email providers send fileden posts to the junk mail folder without notifying you.

Admin have informed me that it was due to inactivity in your case.

Hello. I joined Fileden as a silver member on February 2, 2008. My username is riojazz

I noticed in December that there was a message that bandwidth was exceeded, and there were no files visible in my account.

I sent you a comment via your feedback that I doubted anyone was downloading anything, since I did not, and the files are accessed only through a passord-protected website. I did not receive a reply.

Now that a month has elapsed, past the date the site said the bandwidth would be reset, I find there are no files at all on my FileDen site.

Please check account riojazz and let me know if these files are permanently lost, and if so, please give me advice on canceling my account effective December when I reported the problem.

I hope the files can be restored and I can remain a customer.
