Hey,

First of all - great service guys - you blow the other file hosting options out of the water.

I would like to upgrade to a paid account, although I have a few ideas:

Currently the Packages are

Free - 500 MB / 20 GB
Silver - 5 GB / 25 GB
Gold - 10 GB / 50 GB
Diamond - 15 GB / 100GB

The free package is excellent as is and I don't think free users can expect any more. However, the small increase in bandwidth between the Free and Silver packages means that Silver doesn't seem very good value.
I think the storage allowances are about right, but the bandwidth is a bit low for a paid account in my opinion.

I know disk space is cheap compared to transfer, but I was thinking there could be 2 types of users. Storers and Sharers.

For Storers I think the current accounts are pretty good as they are, but how about the following options for paid sharers accounts (at the same price as the storer accounts)

Silver - 2.5 GB / 40 GB
Gold - 5 GB / 80 GB
Diamond - 10 GB / 160 GB

I would certainly purchase either a Silver or Gold sharer account if you offered these options.

Another thing I would like for Premium members would be our own 404 File Not Found pages, and also our own Bandwidth Exceeded or Disk space Exceeded images. It would be great if you could somehow use redirects as these, so if it is a 404, users are sent to a url specified by the blog/website/account owner. We could then set up a 404 page and change it when and where we see fit.

Just some ideas,

-Tim

Hi Tim,

Thanks for taking the time to suggest these features to us - always good to hear back from the public concerning their opinions on File Den.

We're considering adding a File Den 'vault' or something along them lines and separating it from the main purpose of File Den for pure hard file storage - just secure storage + linking however no direct linking and changing around our current file den plans a bit to suit this.

New free users don't get 20Gb of bandwidth - it was an opening offer we did for the first 4-5 months I think of our operation, all new users now get 5GB of bandwidth on their free accounts just to clear that up. Since the original users were the users that got us up and running we let them keep the extra bandwidth as a token of our appreciation.

I'd suggest staying on a free account unless you have the need for around 30+ GB of bandwidth - unless you have lots of files to store it's not really worth upgrading to silver being one of them original users. Unless you'd like to use some of the new features such as FTP access, bookmarks & photo albums.

Have a nice weekend!

Kind regards,
The File Den Team.

Interesting set of suggestions I agree.

I use Fileden mainly for storage, and use very little of my monthly bandwidth on a diamond account. so if there were a reward scheme for users with lower bandwidth usage than sharers usage. say a usage upgrading scheme. say for example three conscutive months of low bandwidth would promote the account to a high storage capacity, and remain for as long as the bandwidth used remained within preset usage limitations.
